It is my great honor to serve as the Board Chair of West Valley Community Services (WVCS) this year and to have served as a board member for the past 4 years. I am so proud to be a volunteer with this agency, where the work impacts so many lives and where compassion and respect are the cornerstones of everything we do. Our efforts here make for some of the most meaningful volunteer work I have ever done. In a world of judgement and blame for so many in our community that are less fortunate and fighting to survive, WVCS provides a beacon of hope that many cannot find elsewhere.
Over the past 19 months, unprecedented numbers of families in our community have suffered financial hardship, loss of employment, and housing insecurity. As the needs of our community grow and our programs scale to help more people, the WVCS team never allows two of our guiding principles - compassion and respect - to falter.
And with that, it’s important to stop and say thank you, to YOU, our community! WVCS is empowered to do our important work because of you, our compassionate and generous community of donors and volunteers, who continue to support our programs and our shared vision of food on every table and a roof over every head.
On behalf of the WVCS Board of Directors, I want to personally thank all of you for your continued generosity and support. We could not do the work that we do without you being by our side! I am honored to carry the torch of Board Chair, and together with your support, advance toward our mission of uniting the community to fight hunger and homelessness.
